McNabb’s Odds on Favorite

Donavan on the move out of Philly

“You heard it here first.” That was me 4 weeks ago on TheRunningBack’s weekly radio show on Streetz FM “the Sports Underdogs”.  I announced that Donavan McNabb of the Philadelphia would be traded before the 2010 NFL season. It wasn’t until this week (End of March) that we heard other stations talking this up including sports bloggers – I, Darrick Baxter knew from sources close to the NFL brass that McNabb was on the outs.

I talked about how the Philadelphia Eagles have 3 good quarterbacks, but enough about me.  Lets talk about McNabb.

I’ve decided to throw together some odds on favorites as to where McNabb will be traded. Here are the top teams in the market for Donovan McNabb.

8-1 Buffalo Bills

Neither of Buffalo’s QB’s are any good – Trent Edwards nor Ryan Fitzpatrick. Buffalo is in the ACF and will not face the Eagles in the 2010 season. Buffalo may draft Tim Tebow but that’s an even longer long shot (32-1) than getting McNabb.

(14-1) Cleveland Browns

Cleveland looks to be sticking with their signing of ex-Panther QB Jake Delhomme but there is no doubt that the Browns are in the market for a real starting play caller. My money’s on Cleveland picking up McNabb – I know it’s a long shot but in the words of Fergie from the Black Eyed Pea’s “I got a feeling”

(12-1) Jacksonville Jaguars

The first thing the Jacksonville Jaguars should do is dump their coach, Jack Del Rio. Having said that they should then dump their current QB in David Garrard, he is a subpar QB with a under achieving QB rating of 83.5 (League average is 83.4). OK, he’s the worst of the 18 QB’s above him. That’s poor considering he’s been in the league for about 7 or so years. Next – the Jaguars should dump half of their receivers, then trade the other half. Their horrible! Look for the Jaguars to put in a bid for McNabb.

(7-1) Tennessee Titans

A .500 team at best, the Titans are looking for a franchise caliber quarterback to build their dynasty around. Donavan McNabb may not be “Mr. Right” but he can be “Mr. Tonight”. I’d call McNabb a transitional QB in the Titans system. The Titans are known for bargain shopping and if they can pick up a vetrian QB then they certainly will.  The reason the Titans are 7-1 to pick up McNabb? Well, they have 2 young QB’s that will benefit from the tutelage experienced veteran. Look for the Titans to make an offer for McNabb.

(9-1) Oakland Raiders

What we know about Al Davis is that he commands the silver and black. The Raiders are probably the best suited team for Donavan McNabb. Al Davis has picked up big names in the past, Deangelo Hall and Richard Seymour. Neither a chubby JaMarcus Russell or even slower Bruce Gradkowski are top 20 in the NFL so it’s likely that the Raiders will make a move for Donavan McNabb. Look for the odds on the Oakland Raiders to increase as the fans begin to contemplate the possibilities.

(15-1) Arizona Cardinals

This was the talk early as Andy Reid made mention that he would entertain offers on the Eagles quarterback but nothing has suggested that the Cardinals are interested in McNabb. The converstation has been exclusively one sided.  McNabb would love to move to Arizona, so would I, that doesn’t mean I’m going to be the Cardinals starting QB in 2010. If McNabb is the starting QB in Arizona then I will eat my words on my weekly radio show.

(20-1) St. Louis Rams

St Louis is a team with a very high draft pick infact their picking number 1 overall. It really doesn’t get much higher than that folks. The St. Louis Rams will draft a defensive player early and probably trade their second round 33rd pick for McNabb if anything.  For that reason the Rams are not in contention for McNabb.
